Rex McRee, South Glastonbury, CT State Advocate
I live in South Glastonbury, Connecticut. I believe everyone practices Leave No Trace at some level. I am volunteering to work to increase Leave No Trace awareness, challenging everyone in Connecticut to shift their position positively on the Leave No Trace continuum. I will help all outdoor recreation groups, clubs and state agencies to better understand the outdoor ethics and principles discussed in the Leave No Trace message. I will be building an education and instructor resource list for all of us in Connecticut to use to promote Leave No Trace activities/skills, outdoor ethics and hopefully moving everyone to understand Aldo Leopold’s ‘land ethic’. I want everyone in Connecticut to be exposed to Leave No Trace principles and ethics; working together we can do just that.
The land ethic simply enlarges the boundaries of the community to include soils, waters, plants, animals, or collectively: the land. – Aldo Leopold
